🚗 Sydney → Perth Road Trip

Following us across the Nullarbor and beyond

About Us

A drawing of my car

G'day.

I've always dreamed of driving across this empty, vast and beautiful country. After years of talking about it, I finally decided to make it happen. So, to prepare for the road ahead, I made a few upgrades to the car, packed up, loaded the esky, and pointed the nose west. This is my story.

The idea started simply enough — a glance at a map, a long stretch of nothing between here and Perth, and a question: why not? The Nullarbor Plain has fascinated me for years. The longest straight road in Australia, the Bunda Cliffs dropping into the Great Australian Bight, roadhouses that appear like mirages in the heat, the turquoise waters of Esperance — I wanted to experience all of it firsthand.

So, I took a month of work and together with my mate Graham, set off on this adventure.

We're each travelling in our own, trusty 4WD, stocked with enough food, beer and water for the remote stretches. We've planned a route via Mildura, Adelaide, Port Augusta, Ceduna, the Nullarbor Roadhouse, Norseman and Esperance before the final run into Perth via Margareth River. The route planner shows 5,000 kilometers, but the route is flexible and we will be happy to leave the bitumen and explore the dirt roads. And of course I might find a few noteworthy geocaches along the way.

This website is our way of keeping family and friends updated as we go. We'll post photos, video's, stories, and our current location on the map as often as we can — reception permitting! If you're following along, thank you for being part of the adventure.

We'll see you on the road. 🦘
