G'day, and welcome to Our Road Trips!

I'm Frits — originally from the Netherlands, now proudly calling Australia home since 2016. I made the move lured by the space, the sunshine, and the kind of landscapes you simply can't find in a country where the highest point is a gentle hill. Nearly a decade on, I'm still discovering just how vast and varied this country is. Every trip reveals something new — a track I didn't know existed, a town that doesn't appear on most maps, or a stretch of outback that makes you feel like the last person on earth. Ten years in, and I've barely scratched the surface.

The Rig

My weapon of choice is a Ford Everest — a capable and comfortable 4WD that I've been modestly upgrading over time for longer trips away from the bitumen. The fridge means we're never far from a cold drink, no matter how remote the campsite. A UHF radio keeps us in touch with other road users on the dirt, and a set of additional spotlights makes sure the roos and wombats don't get the better of us on those long night drives. It's not a full-on expedition build — just a practical setup for two people who like to get out and explore.

For each trip, you'll find a live map showing where we are right now, along with posts packed with photos, videos, and stories from the journey. Whether we're crossing the Nullarbor, winding through the Victorian High Country, or threading our way up a remote track in Western Australia, we'll be sharing it all here as it happens.
